March 18th was bitterly cold with snow lining the area…In line with UKA requests and a 4.00am Sunday . decision, the Waters Wilmslow Half Marathon was deferred until today…Sunday 24th June. While more pleasant conditions might have been expected, few expected the heat experienced.

The sky was blue and without a cloud in the sky, as runners waited in the early morning sun, for the 10.30 gun to sound.

The early pacemaker,and building a commanding lead was Mohammad Abu-Rezeq of Altrincham AC, who passed 10k in 30.43 and ran out the winner in 66.44…Well done Mo!

Second place went to James Douglas of Border Harriers in 69.04, with third place going to Danny Hallam of  Wreake & Soar Valley in 70.02.

Winning lady belonged to Sarah Lowery of Rotherham H&AC in a time of 80.09, with second place going to Gemma Connolly of St Helens in 82.07. Finishing the Ladies podium places was Katherine Wood of Sale H&AC in a time of 82.13.
