Race number collection

One hundred days to go to the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, but only 24 to the Wilmslow Running Festival races.

I mentioned in an earlier post that there would be some changes, well say differences, to this year’s festival from last year. Here’s the first.

For years we have had the help of the local guides to get everyone their running bib packaged and posted over a busy weekend. It’s always been hectic, and recently we have had to take into account Covid Guidelines.

This year we are not posting bibs out instead we are operating a Come-and-Collect service.

Our entrants will receive an email explaining this and the process, and this information will also be on our FAQ page on the website.

However, here is a quick overview.

The Running Bear shop in Alderley Edge will have your numbers available to collect from Friday 11th March until the 18th. If you live local or just want to get it early then pop in to see us and collect your bibs. There’s an opportunity to see some of our Festival team, ask any questions if you have any worries or concern or want advice; and, if you want to, buy some running gear! The shops opening times are 09:30-17:30.

On the Saturday [19th ] our Festival Village opens 09:30-16:30 . There will be events and refreshments going on in the village – I‘ll tell you more towards the run up to the races. You will find  set up Number Collection desks in our Registration area. Her you can collect your number for your race: HM, 10k and Fun.

The Sunday, the 20th, is Race Day it will be the last chance to pick up your number. We are open on the Registration  Desk up until 09:45 for the 10k and Half Marathon races; and up to 10:00 for the Fun Run.

This year we have not printed your name and instead  have left an area blank. It should be your choice how you write your name on the bib or not. We will have pens available so you can express yourselves! Present at the Festival Village will be one of our local artists, Bill Heaton. If he’s free why not ask him to do it artistically for you. Bill is a self taught abstract artist.

Let’s look at the draft Bib designs. In case you need to colour coordinate your running kit :)
