Only 34 Sleeps to go before the Big Day

It’s Valentines Day today and I hope your training for the festival 10k and Half Marathon doesn’t stop you enjoying the day.

It’s only 34 more nights until our 37th Half Marathon. We have had just two postponements since the event started. 2001 when there was Foot and Mouth around and 2020 with Covid!

Do you know - The first half marathon was on the 4th April 1984. we had 16 hundred and 46 runners completing the course. Mainly men. The first winners being : P Shaw in 1:8:41 in a close race seven seconds ahead of the second man home; and the female winner was C L Modrat in  254th place with a time of 1:26:57. The second lady home was around 90 seconds behind here.

I wonder diidlast year’s festival bring any couples closer? Who might be having a break from training today?

Let us know if you have any 2021 WRF friends after last year.
